El 26 de abril de 1937, un ataque a�reo de fuerzas alemanas e italianas arras� la ciudad de Guernica. Nunca antes en la Historia hab�a sido atacada una poblaci�n desde el aire con el prop�sito de destruirla. El Concierto para Guernica pretende recordar el 70 aniversario de esa fecha tr�gica, para incrementar la conciencia global acerca de la necesidad de paz y cooperaci�n internacional.
On April 26th 1937, German and Italian forces obliterated the Spanish town of Guernica in a massive air raid. The tragic raid inspired one of Pablo Picasso's most powerful paintings, perhaps the most famous anti-war statement of the 20th century.
Spanish composer Octavio V�zquez wrote the first notes of his piano trio Guernica in 1999 and completed it in 2006. Seventy years after the destruction of the Basque town, Guernica will be performed at Instituto Cervantes by the New Taipei Trio. The Guernica Concert seeks to commemorate the 70th anniversary of that tragic day with the hope of increasing global awareness of the necessity for peace and international cooperation.
